Dannette Haygood, representing Northwest Flyers and Houston Cypress Creek in Texas, placed second in the women's 17-18 triple jump final with a second-round effort of 40-5.50 (12.33m) at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships at Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State. Haygood, entering her senior year, also finished 12th in the long jump with a leap of 17-6 (5.33m).
